Admissions

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

School Admissions

The Department for Education has decided that the maximum number of pupils to be admitted to our Reception year is 60. Derbyshire policy states that we have a one-point entry into school each September.

The Governors use the following criteria for admitting children into the Reception year at school: – Children living in Eckington. – Children with brothers/sisters in the infant school will be considered if there are spare places. – Children living in the adjacent locality will be offered a place if there are spare places.

For further details and information on how to apply, please click on the link below to the Derbyshire County Council website.

Nursery Admissions

Children may be admitted into Nursery the term after their third birthday if parents so wish and if there is space. The Governors use the following criteria for admitting children to the Nursery when there are vacancies:- – Children with special needs are given priority when referred by health visitors and other agencies at a pre-admission meeting. – Children living in the Eckington area. – Children living in the adjacent locality.

Children who are 3 years old will usually be offered an afternoon place. We adopt an individual, flexible approach when children first start in Nursery, so that they feel safe and secure when being away from their parents. The number of sessions attended will be reviewed regularly and the sessions increased to five a week when appropriate to the needs of the child, whilst taking into account Derbyshire County Council’s policy recommendation of a minimum of 5 sessions for two terms. The planned admission level in Nursery is 26 places per session.

We operate a waiting list system for Nursery Admissions. To register your child for Nursery, please contact the office with the following information:
